The narrow gauge Weißeritztal Railway has a history that spans nearly 130 years.
Today it is still one of the four Saxony narrow gauge railway lines which operates daily troughout the year with steam lokomotives.
In August 2002 a terrible flood destroyed the valley and nearly a half of the track. 6 years later trains run again, but at the moment, the Weißeritztal Railway operates only on a 13km strech of track between Freital and Dippoldiswalde.
With extensive historical material this film shows the unique history of the whole line.
The traveller gets to know the wild, romantic Rabenauer Grund, the recreation resort around Malter dam as well as the Eastern Ore Mountains.
It is a wonderfully journey that will fascinate you as you travel in a bygone era.
Get inspired by the nostalgic atmosphere and get aboard ...
